What the heil?

Of all the signs I saw being held up at the "We hate everything about the government" rally on Saturday in Washington, D.C., the silliest - and, alas, the saddest - were the ones that depicted President Barack Obama with a Hitler-like mustache.

The protesters were suggesting that Obama, our first black president, rules like Hitler? Or that he wants to be like Hitler?

Hitler hated blacks almost as much as he hated Jews, but far be it from these self-proclaimed "teabaggers" to let the facts of history get in the way of what they see as a clever argument.

You begin your post with a strawman fallacy (the "we hate everything..." line) and then bounce off of that and head right to the signs with Obama wearing a Hitler mustache.

You riff away on that.

Most impressive is where you use the term "teabagger," a reference to an unpretty sexual practice originally applied, mockingly, to the Tea Party participants by snide cable news talkers.

Your post is a whole mess of the kind of thing you are complaining about.

As far as comparisons between the progressive movement Obama represents and European fascism in all of its varieties, I recommend a book by one of the columnists I've seen carried in your newspaper, Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg.

Famously progressive Margaret Sanger, for instance, was a racist and a eugenicist who was particulary interested in curtailing the black population. Sanger was the founder of the euphemistically named Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in the U.S., and a major supporter of Barack Obama.

But that would be a lot to fit on a sign.
