You've abandoned the anti-abortion/pro-hunting bumper stickers as mixed message, but have changed the subject to the anti-abortion/pro-death penalty combination as a mixed message.
Well, that's not a mixed message either.
The death penalty is a punishment for murder and other heinous crimes, not simply an option that can be exercised for an unwanted person, unless you're in Nazi Germany.
Are you saying there is a moral equivalence between a human life and an animal?
Really?
So, who would you rescue if a kid and his dog are both drowning in the Esopus?
Would your answer change if it was your dog and the kid was a stranger.
(I hope not, by the way. Human life trumps that of the animal -regardless of how precious it is to its owner).
And, the death penalty is a legitimate form of punishment that society imposes on those that commit crimes. It's reserved for the most serious acts against the innocent, but it does serve as a deterrence to others, it extracts retribution from the criminal for the harm done to the victim and society and obviously serves to incapacitate the criminal from further acts. It's a proper punishment in our society.
All I'm saying, Tin, is that life is life, and some people in our society are very hypocritical. Take away from that whatever you wish. Thanks for reading and commenting. -J

You don't actually think that's a mixed message?
If you do, then do you think that both eating a hamburger and practicing cannibalism is an unmixed message?
Fine, Martin, then perhaps you can explain to me why most anti-abortion folks are PRO-death penalty.
Now THERE'S a mixed message!

It's all about moral values.
