Getting their goat

We're hearing from Freeman readers today that our front-page story about two people being arrested in Kingston's now-infamous "goat graffiti" scandal is much ado about nothing, non-news, overblown and so on.

Interesting, then, that the story has generated more hits and more comments than anything else on our website today.

Jeremy I would be equally interested to see if anyone actually ends up serving 4 years in prison for this.

Bill: My guess is no - nothing even CLOSE to four years. But for now, that's what they face.
If history is any indicator, and both of these folks are first-time offenders, it's a safe bet that the felony charges will be dropped in exchange for them pleading guilty to the misdemeanors. And the penalty probably will be restitution and community service, perhaps with a fine tacked on. I'd be surprised to see either of them spend any time behind bars.
Time will tell.
Thanks for reading and commenting.
