* The "Jeopardy" game featuring the IBM computer Watson makes for interesting science but terrible television. In particular, the first of the three broadcasts (which aired last night) came across as a half-hour commercial for IBM rather than a game show.

* Why all the fascination among restaurants and TV cooking shows with the word "chipotle"? Well, I guess it's more appealing than calling it what it is: "smoke-dried jalapeno."
